MyMedicare: Why You Should Register With Your Regular Practice
MyMedicare is a free, voluntary Medicare program that lets you formally register with the general practice you see most often. It tells Medicare that we are your regular care team, which helps us provide more connected care.
What are the benefits?
- Longer telehealth consultations: registered patients can access longer Medicare-funded phone consultations with GPs at their registered practice.
- Better continuity of care: your chronic condition care plans are linked to the practice you are registered with, so your care stays in one place.
- More benefits over time: the Government has said more benefits for registered patients will be added in the future.
Can I still see other doctors?
Yes. Registering with MyMedicare does not stop you from seeing other GPs or visiting other clinics. Some benefits, like longer telehealth and care plan services, are linked to your registered practice.
Who can register?
You can register if you have a Medicare card or DVA Veteran Card and have had at least two face-to-face visits with the practice in the last 24 months. Some exemptions apply.
How do I register?
- Ask our reception team at your next visit and we will help you fill out a short form, or
- Register through your Medicare online account in the myGov app.
It only takes a few minutes. Call us on (02) 8206 9095 or ask at the front desk next time you are in.
